A brown and white bi-color Beagle is a small lovable hound dog with two primary colors, namely brown and white. This type of Beagle or any bi-color Beagle, are more rare then a tri-color Beagle and can be hard to come by.
So what is the difference between a bi-color brown Beagle and a tri-color brown Beagle? The main difference is a bi-color Beagle has only two colors while a chocolate tri-color Beagle has three colors.
The two colors that a bi-color brown and white Beagle has if you haven’t guessed it already, are brown and white. You should find no other colors on it.
A tri-color brown Beagle also has brown and white, but there is also a third color, a tan color. Here are a few pictures of two brown/white and tan Beagle puppies.
I would like to post a pictures of a bi-color brown and white Beagle, but sadly I have never had any in my litters which brings me to my next point. Brown and white bi-color Beagles are more rare then the tri-color Beagle.
The reason why they are more rare is because Beagles were bred to be tri-color not bi-color. The third color of tan is hard to breed out of them.
Different Types of Brown and White Beagles.
It is important to point out that there are more then one type of brown Beagle. The tan and white Beagle is considered a light brown Beagle, wo make sure you know which one you are looking for. A light or a dark Beagle.
Here is an animation picture to help show the difference.
A Word Of Warning!
From the animated picture above it may appear easy to identify the different types of bi-color Beagles, but in real life it is much harder.
To help demonstrate this point I will provide two pictures below of two different types of a bi-color Beagle. I do not own either of the two dogs, I got these photos off of shutterstock to show how similar they can appear.
Can you see the difference? One is light brown and one is a lemon but which one? If someone tried to sale both these dogs as bi-color, light brown Beagles could you spot the lemon?
Some of these bi-color Beagles can appear so close in color that it is almost impossible to tell one from another from a mere picture. If you want a white and brown puppy, make sure you visit the puppy in person before buying.
Better yet, make sure that the breeder you are getting your Beagle from is trustworthy and reliable. That way you can rest assured that you are getting what you are paying for.
Here is a tip to help you tell the difference. When the puppies are first born, the light tan and lemon Beagle will almost be pure white in color. There spots do not darken until a few weeks of age.
The red Beagle will also be white but its spots will be tan at birth. However, as a red Beagle ages, sometimes the red can be so dark that it might appear brown.
With the brown Beagle, they should be born brown and white.
Exercise Restraint When You Buy!
Be patient, do your research, and remember to make sure you can trust the breeder so you will get the Beagle that you are looking for.
A bi-color brown and white Beagle is rare. It can be tempting to buy one as soon as you find one, but make sure it truly is the color you are looking for before you buy.
